Ok, so the frame behind this is to tank out Geb like a normal support but to be able to sock the assassins, solos, and supports for big damage that they will consistently underestimate without sacrificing much at all of your tankiness.
- Talisman, Gladiator's Shield, and Prophetic Cloak are all but CORE in my humble opinion. They all synergize with GEB's roll of hard-hitting annoying abilities going off in the middle of the fray and peeling for the team. The talisman in particular is too valuable for your team for you to pass.
- Shoguns is a good pick up on Geb even without that spicy item 5, but with QIN's BLADE it's just dirty. You will knock up and slow the solo or support from the other team and consistently outdamage them because of Qin's blade. So the game plan is to initiate on the squishy's and try to get picks on the midliners and backliners, but when the support or solo comes to peel, you turn on them with your backliners and punch through them QUICK. With a little coordination, you'll feel the shred potential.
- The final item is really pick your poison. Go anti-heal or utility or crowd control or amanita charm... whatever your team has a need for.
A few FAQs that may come up.
Are you sacrificing consistent damage that you would get from a Gem of Isolation or a Soul Reaver?
Yes you are... but if the other frontliners are expecting soul reaver or gem of iso or divine ruin, and instead you start punching, you will turn the fights pretty quickly. In effect, both are viable strats, and you should be going ability based damage sometimes...
Can you even build Berserker's and Gladiator's in the same build?
Actually, yes! The game will let you. This would be for when you find yourself surviving below half health alot and for physical heavy team comps. This allow's gebs punching to get REAL fast in the team fights.
Isn't Face-Punch Geb just mad scientist cooking?
It can be. If you're going Fatalis or Crit or even multiple offensive attack speed or power items... or demonic grip.... You're cooking. But this is a vamp off of the more meta strategy of playing Geb. It mixes in enough punching to be dangerous without sacrificing what makes Geb so solid in the first place, his CC and disruption focused gameplay that also peels well for your carries.
How to make this more offensive, I keep losing trades with squishies?
Well, you won't be boxing a hunter or adc with this build because it's not meant for them. Offensive Geb isn't based on face-punching. For Offensive Geb, you would probably do something like [ITEM:(1895)Book of Thoth][ITEM:(183)Polynomicon][ITEM:(1926)Soul Gem][ITEM:(202)The Cosmic Horror][ITEM:(234)Rod of Tahuti][ITEM:(222)Dreamer's Idol] and then AA cancel all of his abilities.
GOOD LUCK and ENJOY ROMPING with the MOST SOLID GOD IN THE GAME!
