Understanding Ares new passive
Ares is back mostly the same with a new change to his passive. His old passive gave you magic damage for each item you had with an aura. This new passive gives you an aura that your teamamtes benefit from but how does this work. Protections from items now give you scaling strength, cooldown rate from items gives you scaling intelligence. Your teammates gain 50% of the stats from this aura when they're near you. I like this new passive alot it makes ares a real legitmate threat when you play with your team. His basic attacks also now scale with magic damage so yay I guess this really only makes finishing targets off after searing flame easier now.
Ability priotity
Start Searing flesh(3) to clear purple camp after that priority is as follows No escape(4), Shackles(1), Searing flesh(3), Call to arms(2)
Starting items
First off again WARDS ‼️ WARDS ‼️ WARDS ‼️
[ITEM:(1934)War Flag] Provides you and allied gods near you a stacking attack speed and move speed buff so if you like to play ego heavy and rush down the enemy
OR
[ITEM:(1942)Heroism] Provides a nearby ally a shield when they are hit by hard cc so if you want to keep your carry alive against heavy cc users this is the item to get.
Both items are valid I get more use out of war flag as I find it easier to hit chains and keep searing flame on enemies to allow my allies to mop up the kill quickly.
Core Items
These 3 are generally the core right now
[ITEM:(1924)Mystical Mail] Provides physical protection, strength aura stacks and passive aoe for early laning
[ITEM:(1916)Gladiator's Shield] Provides physical protection, strength and int aura stacks and bonus damage once per ability from protections
[ITEM:(189)Ruinous Ankh] Provides physical and magic protection, strength aura stacks, counters healing/lfesteal
I like to swap [ITEM:(1890)Circe's Hexstone] for [ITEM:(1924)Mystical Mail] but everyone is different so figure out what works for you
New Items
3 new items I wanna focus on the rest I'll give short descriptions
[ITEM:(1890)Circe's Hexstone] Really good and acts as sort of a second blink rune but better I like to rush it first or second. Upon activating it you turn into a boar and charge forward fi you hit an enemy god during this charge it ends the charge dealing damage to them and knocks them into the sky setting up a combo into your ult. It can also be used in a myriad of other ways so definetly expirement with it.
[ITEM:(203)Stampede] is another new active item I builf it depending on how slow my team is. On activation it gives you and your allies slow immunity, attack speed and move speed your gonna want to use this to enage and setup fights definetly another one to experiment with.
[ITEM:(182)Phoenix Feather] new survivability/anti-burst item when activated it heals you for 300hp +30 missing hp and damages enemies around you equal to %10 of your max health. I wanted to mention it because I have had a lot of fun comboing off of my ult to provide even more peel for the rest of the team aside from that I haven't got much use out of it.
[ITEM:(225)Eye of Providence] dewarding
[ITEM:(167)Hussar's Wings] slow immunity
[ITEM:(206)Talisman of Purification] beads for the team
[ITEM:(186)Amanita Charm] AOE heal
[ITEM:(194)Screeching Gargoyle] AOE frontal silence
[ITEM:(210)Triton's Conch] Scaling str and int
End
The Final build Is meant to provide a strong and stable core for ares with a lot flexibility for options later on. Expirement with it and find what works for you also please comment with critiques and items its missing, I'll try to keep this guide updated as much as I can.
Experimental Build
Something im cooking up that uses [ITEM:(208)Gauntlet of Thebes] [ITEM:(189)Ruinous Ankh] and [ITEM:(1890)Circe's Hexstone] it provides you with high protections relativley quickly resulting in fat aura stacks allowing you and your carry to pull ahead in lane.
